Using moodle: HTML editor in Moodle

There is no HTML editor in Moodle in Safari. The HTMLarea editor that Moodle uses is incompatible with Safari and does not function. When you copy formatted text from an external editor into Safari you are essentially converting it to plain text which ignores formatting commands.

One Possible Solution:

Use the Firefox browser.

Note: Some users might be inclined to use Google Chrome or Opera, however, the HTMLarea editor does not work in these browsers at the time of this posting.

Use of "Waypoint Outcomes" as an assessment tool

Waypoint Outcomes is a tool that is tightly integrated with most of the major Learning Management System like Blackboard and Moodle. It can also be used as a stand-alone tool to not only assess students in authentic learning tasks but also to provide useful feedback that can help to improve the learning process.

It is an excellent tool that uses interactive rubrics and course surveys to develop data on student achievement. Another plus for this tool is that students will be able to get much better and detailed feedback on their work. Also the assessment can be streamlined for entire college or university.

As I started testing this tool and trying to create some rubrics, I found that even with my technological background, learning curve can be a major issue for first timers like me. This ofcourse adds to the high cost as major factors that can keep educators especially in public schools away from this tool.
